A famous hotbed of activity for those who like The Races, Daytona Beach, Florida is actually much more than just a motorsports-oriented magnet for speed junkies. This is an action packed destination that families love, and it’s pretty easy on the eyes, too.

Like to play? Take your fill of championship golf courses, fishing tournaments, tennis courts and professional events as well as all the stuff you want to rent, borrow and buy, including bikes, jet skis and kayaks.

Prefer to take it easy? Lots of malls and boutiques make for frivolous fun and it goes without saying that the beach will treat you right. Twenty three miles of attractive coastline that’s always free and open to the public spells vacation success, so pack a picnic and pick up one of those striped umbrellas.

Oriented towards the arts? Squeeze in some culture by attending a free outdoor concert – they are held from April through October and are known as the Bandshell Concert Series – or attend a theatrical performance. Museums will fill you in on the region’s history; try the Southeast Museum of Photography or the Halifax Historical Musuem. This is but a brief sampling of the Daytona Area.
